Tools for Mobile Learning Development

by Gary Woodill on March 22, 2010

Mobile learning is on the rise, and so is the number of tools available for creating mobile learning content and experiences. Amar Jadhav of the Upside Learning Solutions Blog has a useful post on the tools that they are using to create mobile learning materials. In particular, he emphasizes:

  • Web applications.
  • Enterprise applications like LMSs and LCMSs.
  • Games.
  • Augmented Reality.

A very useful list. Thanks for sharing, Amar. (GW)

There is a great tool available that can be used to create mobile content on Blackberry® smartphones. It’s the Chalk Pushcast software available at http://www.chalk.com. It provides media-rich content that’s trackable and secure. Content is easily created from an add-in to Microsoft Powerpoint. Text, images, audio and video can be incorporated into a mobile module then pushed out to the Blackberry®. I’ve personally used the software and can say that it’s very quick and easy to create just-in-time training and short communications for employees.
