Create a Learning Portal Using RSS to HTML Utilities

by Richard Nantel on December 17, 2009

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is a fabulous technology. If you’re trying to figure out what to do with it for learning and development, try this:

  • Create a simple Web page about a topic
  • Research sites, discussion groups, blogs, etc. that publish information about your topic using RSS
  • Use one of the technologies listed in thisĀ All Web Design BlogĀ post to display the RSS content on your Web page

Voila! Instant learning portal for a specific topic. (RN)

RSS to HTML is a great idea. I do something similar with my blogroll – I process the RSS URLs through Twitterfeed, and have them post to my (other) Twitter account: http://twitter.com/r20_blogroll . How you process RSS depends on what you’re trying to achieve, I suppose.
