Recently I wrote about how, for me, netbook computers were just too underpowered to be of much interest. Yet, their success in the marketplace has told computer manufacturers that consumers want small, light computers with a long battery life. They just want more computing power than can be delivered by the line of Intel Atom chips currently powering most netbooks.
Well, for just $200-$300 more, you can have a substantially more powerful lightweight computer, such as the Acer Timeline series. They use a different type of processor called Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage (CULV) chips. Batteries last up to 8 hours and the weight is down to less than 4 pounds, with a full keyboard and a 13″ screen. Check out Jason Hiner’s review at TechRepublic.
