The Future of Learning and Development

by Tom Werner on October 30, 2009

Interesting points about what Learning and Development must change to be successful, from a survey by futurethink (via TrainingIndustry.com).

The gist:

  • Make courses less boring.
  • Focus on drive-the-business topics, not just foundational topics.
  • Use blended learning (in the sense of be flexible on how you deliver).
  • Make courses shorter.
  • Focus on interaction and application.
  • Be passionate and inspirational.

(My take: All good points. Who would argue with these? Tough to do though…) (TW)

I agree… except for 4th point. OK to make some programs shorter, but not all of them ! Sometimes, especially with personal development, we need some time to practice each step or method. But I don’t want long and top-down training anymore !
