A Media Timeline

Steve Rubel has posted this beautiful timeline of the evolution of media. Mr. Rubel uses this visual to illustrate that “a) there will always be shifts in media and b) one format never supersedes another.”

Focusing on one slice of his timeline, Mr. Rubel believes that blogs are no longer “in beta” but are now the “new normal.”

A recent Technorati.com survey indicated that up to 95 per cent of blogs have been abandoned. This isn’t surprising. Contributing regularly to a blog requires work and discipline. But, we continue to see blogs as powerful learning tools. Blogs allow experts to share their knowledge. In addition, writing about what you think you know is a great way to uncover knowledge gaps. (RN)
