Blogger Gareth Davies points out that some social media applications being adopted for learning have a very short life. Many of these applications are developed and launched with the hope that they will soon be purchased by Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, or another tech firm with deep pockets. Educators who adopt these technologies can be “left high and dry after as little as six months” when the start-up company pulls the plug on the application. (RN)
