A Low-Tech Approach to Management Development

by Richard Nantel on June 10, 2010

A Montreal-area firm, Coaching Ourselves,  is providing managers with a way to learn from each other. For an annual subscription fee, teams of managers have access to a library of information related to management. The teams then meet in small groups to discuss the topics and learn from each other.

This is a low-tech approach to learning:

To encourage better communication, the sessions are pen and paper only -no laptop computers allowed.

The content for these sessions is based on the theories of management guru Henry Mintzberg, author of “Managers Not MBAs: A Hard Look at the Soft Practice of Managing and Management Development.” (RN)
