Online Workshop on Managing Top Talent

by Richard Nantel on June 8, 2010

A few years ago, I read a book titled “Reclaiming the Fire: How Successful People Can Overcome Burnout.” It was fabulous. Clearly I wasn’t alone in thinking so because Fortune Magazine named it “… one of the 75 smartest books ever written…” High praise indeed. I’m thrilled that the author, Dr. Steven Berglas will be presenting a workshop here on June 23rd.

If you’re a manager, you know how challenging it can be to keep your top talent happy, motivated, and productive. This workshop is designed to provide you with the skills and information you need to understand and successfully manage your superstars.

Talent: Can’t Live With ‘Em; Can’t Live Without ‘Em.

Wednesday, June 23, 2010, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time (U.S. & Canada)

The consensus among CEOs, CLOs, and HR professionals since the mid-1990s has been that the scarcest, most valuable resource in business is not financial capital; it is talent. The problem is, no one truly understands this most rare of all beasts in the corporate jungle.

Participants in this workshop will learn what talent is, why talent is invaluable, and what can be done to keep talent happy. Why is catering to the needs of talent so important? Because the talent that scores of business gurus claim can make or break a company is, in the final analysis, born, not bred. Does this mean that those who manage talent must cater to egomaniacal Prima Donnas? Not necessarily, but, at times, yes — which is why this seminar is a must for anyone who understands the true value of talent. If you do not know what makes them tick and how to cope with their idiosyncrasies, you will lose them to your competitors or go mad using ineffectual and costly techniques designed to address their unique needs for care and feeding.

This seminar will provide participants with the following take-home skills:

  • A research-based, not “intuitive” understanding of what makes talent function as they do.
  • Strategies for satisfying the psychological needs of talent and reducing turnover within this cohort of invaluable high-achievers.
  • Strategies for coping with the inevitable problems that Talent have with their under-performing co-workers.
  • A Windex-clear rationale for investing the time, money, and effort, demanded by Talent

This workshop is limited to only 30 people. Find out more. (RN)
