The Brandon Hall Research Center

Brandon Hall Research moves to a “Membership-driven Research” Business Model

Sunnyvale, CA - Brandon Hall Research announced today that it has moved to a new business model. Since 1992, the company has been a publisher of research on the latest technologies, processes, and practices in the field of workplace learning and talent management. Each year Brandon Hall Research has produced up to 30 new publications on topics that editors thought would be of interest to the corporate learning and talent management markets.

But this approach to developing publications has been hit and miss, so it was decided to do something different. Research reports and knowledgebases will now be developed for the research firm’s best customers, those who become members of the new Brandon Hall Research Center. The topics for these publications will be based on “membership-driven research,” whereby most research undertaken by the company’s senior analysts will be based primarily on the needs and requests of members.

Most research reports will now only be available to members of the Center. Only the popular “how-to-buy” series of research reports and searchable knowledgeBases will continue to be available to non-members.

Three levels of membership in the Research Center are available. Publications Members can nominate and vote on topics for future reports and will have access to the extensive resources of the Brandon Hall Research Library, a collection of current research reports, knowledgebases, presentation slides, and audio/visual materials. Preferred Members will have all the benefits of the Publications level but are also able to receive answers to their questions from senior analysts as well as other benefits. Premium Members cover all the features of the Preferred level but with additional seats and custom events tailored to the unique needs of their individual companies.

Input from members will be gathered in several ways. At any time, members can nominate topics for future research by entering their requests into the new members-only support Web site. Here it will be logged and compiled. Once a month all members will be surveyed on their favorite choices from the list of topics suggested by fellow members. The top ranking topics will be the subjects of the next reports from the company.

In addition, members at the Preferred and Premium levels can simply call any of the Brandon Hall senior staff members and ask them questions relevant to their work. Staff members will undertake to find answers to questions and to send the member one or two page briefs within two business days. Questions that require longer, more involved research will be developed as custom research contracts.

Richard Nantel, CEO of Brandon Hall Research, commented, “Brandon Hall Research is committed to focusing on meeting the needs of Research Center members. The company will analyze the business problems related to learning and talent management that members bring to the table and will then work closely with them to supply relevant and timely information that helps solve each problem. We will also continue to produce relevant reports and information resources based on the interests of members.”

It is hoped that the new Brandon Hall Research Center will become a community of practice for corporate training where members with information and experience to share and Brandon Hall Research staff members work together in supplying answers to members with questions.
