Use Cases
Keep Your Projects on Track
Assessing and evaluating e-learning technology features and
functionalities is an important part of the technology selection
process. However, a myopic focus on features alone does not
ensure that you will pick a system that will mesh with your
internal processes and expectations or be “user friendly”
for users of the system once implemented.
There is a certain amount of subjective review that is a
critical part of conducting due diligence. Preparing Use Cases
(describing unique scenarios, workflow, or “a day in
the life" of a user of the technology) can help you provide
a perfect match when selecting e-learning technologies.
The Use Case document also provides a script for conducting
vendor demonstrations that focus on your specific needs and
as a checklist for providing some objectivity while evaluating
a system. You can use this approach to quantify nebulous evaluation
criteria such as “ease of use,” “intuitive
interface,” “appropriate levels of customization,”
“assessing whether performance reports will fit your
needs,” and “ensuring that a system will meet
your interoperability needs.”
Let us help you create a comprehensive Use Case document
to help you document your selection process and build consensus
among different departments or groups inside your organization
that may have unique scenarios and needs.
