Learning
Objects: the Smarter Way
Some early adopter organizations have leveraged “learning
object” technologies such as an LCMS (learning content
management system), CMS (content management system), and even
proprietary systems to optimize their enterprise learning
model, evolving from a desktop publishing to an enterprise-wide
publishing model.
We’ve seen some great successes in this area, but also
some dismal failures. What’s the difference between
the success stories and the failures? What role does the technology
play in creating the problems?
In some ways the technology has outpaced our ability to use
it wisely. The biggest problem is developing a learning object
plan that will not relegate the responsibility of managing
reusable learning content to the technology, but rather make
“learning objects” a real part of the process
and the culture.
Brandon Hall Research has developed reusable learning object
strategies for some of the highest profile innovators in the
area of enterprise learning. We’d like to help you in
this capacity as well.
