Brandon Hall Research Opens Conference Office in ‘Second Life’

Company Pioneers Innovative Approach to Conference Management

May 15, 2007, SUNNYVALE, Calif. – As registration opens for its Innovations in Learning Conference, Brandon Hall Research breaks new ground by offering virtual registration and collaboration capabilities through the Second Life virtual environment. In keeping with the conference’s celebration of interactive learning and innovative approaches, the Brandon Hall conference center in Second Life offers the chance to register for the event, view conference programs, and virtually meet other conference-goers before anyone leaves their offices.

The Brandon Hall Innovations in Learning Conference will be held Sept. 25 and 26 at the Santa Clara Marriott in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a pre-conference program planned for Monday, Sept. 24. The unique new conference series celebrates the tools, technologies, innovations, and ideas that power successful workforce learning and development initiatives.

Log on to www.secondlife.com to get started, and then navigate (or “teleport”) your way to Education Island, where Brandon Hall Research’s conference office is located. Learning professionals can also register or receive more information on the conference at www.brandonhallconference.com.

With the launch of the Second Life office, Brandon Hall Research becomes the first independent learning research company to utilize the virtual environments for conference registration, information, and management. The pioneering process is intended to introduce attendees to the types of cutting-edge technologies they’ll experience in person at the Innovations in Learning Conference.

“Using Second Life to support the new Innovations in Learning Conference shows that Brandon Hall Research is a company on the cutting edge of information technology,” said Dr. Gary Woodill, Director of Research and Analysis for Brandon Hall Research. “It also opens the event to a wider audience, those learning professionals who are already investigating the rather remarkable places technology can take you. We think our conference delegates will enjoy the creative process of building a Second Life avatar to represent them virtually and using that avatar to explore the options and opportunities of the Innovations in Learning Conference.”
