Maximize Training Dollars Through Low-Cost LMS Products

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – A recent informal Brandon Hall Research survey showed that greater than 80 percent of all companies looking to purchase a learning management system have a budget of less than $100,000. With several products on the market costing upward of $2 million, choosing a budget conscious system is on the minds of many training directors.

A new research study by Brandon Hall Research shows, however, that several feature-rich systems are available on the market for much less than traditional LMSs. Pricing for some systems have been identified to be as high as $234,150 for 500 learners. Brandon Hall Research’s latest research identifies and provides analyst commentary on 17 systems that cost as little as $8,980 for that same 500 learners. In addition to a substantial cost savings, some of these systems can be implemented in as little as one week.

The new report, "Low-Cost Learning Management Systems: 17 Products for Limited Budgets," identifies affordable LMS choices organizations can use to deliver, track, and manage training.

"Purchasing an LMS can be a daunting proposition," says Brandon Hall, Ph.D., lead researcher and CEO of Brandon Hall Research. "It's easy to get overwhelmed by the many choices in the marketplace. By doing a little homework and focusing only on real business needs, an organization can save a tremendous amount of money and still get a surprising amount of functionality."
In the tradition of Brandon Hall Research research, the report identifies key differentiators of each of the 17 low-cost systems, including an in-depth analyst review and information on features, pricing, and implementation. In addition, the report includes helpful tips on how to lower costs, how to avoid “feature scope creep,” and tips on how to develop a request for proposal.
